“Since becoming an educator, my goal has always been to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students, staff, and the greater school community. With 18 years of experience in education and degrees from Lee College, the University of Houston Downtown, Lamar University, and Abilene University, I bring a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a commitment to fostering academic excellence.
Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse students and staff, gaining valuable experience in leadership, instruction, and student advocacy. I have previously served as interim assistant principal and summer school principal, where I assumed full administrative responsibilities, including budgeting, personnel management, special education services, discipline, and campus operations. These experiences, combined with my role as the current special education, 504, and discipline assistant principal, has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of campus leadership and the importance of creating a supportive and structured learning environment. My background also includes serving as a classroom teacher in first and third grade, as well as an inclusion teacher advocating for special education students.
Beyond the classroom, I have successfully organized and implemented programs to support students, such as coordinating Comp-U-Dopt, which provided computers to economically disadvantaged students, and leading efforts with Cycle Houston, an initiative that rewarded second-grade students with bicycles and helmets as a reading incentive. These initiatives have reinforced my dedication to student success and equity. As education continues to evolve, the role of an instructional leader is more vital than ever. I am eager to bring my passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to collaboration to a principal role. My ability to build relationships, work as a team player, and go the extra mile ensures that I can positively impact students, staff, and the entire school community.”
We will be hosting a come and go meet and greet on May 5th for the community/guardians to drop by and meet with Dr. Durst. We look forward to seeing you there and are so excited about the future of Hardin Junior High School under the leadership of Dr. Bobby Durst.
